In June 2023, the Shenzhen Liaison Office of the Association for Digital Science Promotion and Research was officially unveiled, marking an important step in the Association's research cooperation layout in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. This is ADSPR's third work node after its Hong Kong headquarters and Singapore liaison office.
The establishment of the Shenzhen Liaison Office was a strategic decision made by the Association's Council after more than a year of deliberation. The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is one of the most active regions in the global digital economy, bringing together a large number of universities, research institutions, and technology enterprises in artificial intelligence, data science, and information technology. However, there are still institutional barriers to academic cooperation and talent mobility among research institutions in the region, especially between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. ADSPR hopes to use its unique advantages as a cross-regional academic organization to become a bridge connecting research resources in the Greater Bay Area.
The Shenzhen Liaison Office has three core functions. First, academic activity organization: the liaison office will regularly hold academic seminars, technical salons, and industry exchange meetings in digital science, providing a face-to-face communication platform for researchers and practitioners in the Greater Bay Area.
Second, member service coordination: it will provide nearby service support for mainland members, including membership application consultation, guidance on achievement review materials, and project application guidance.
Third, promotion of industry-university-research cooperation: the liaison office will actively connect with technology enterprises and research institutions in the Greater Bay Area, promote effective matching between the Association's academic resources and local industry needs, and facilitate the transformation and application of research achievements.
The person in charge of the liaison office introduced that the first batch of activities planned in Shenzhen includes a themed seminar on "marketization of data elements and data security" and a project application guidance workshop for young researchers.
At the unveiling ceremony, Association President Zhou Weiyuan pointed out that the Shenzhen Liaison Office is not only a step in ADSPR's regional expansion, but also a concrete practice of the Association's philosophy of "openness". The innovation vitality and technical talent reserves of the Greater Bay Area will inject new momentum into the Association's development.
