In October 2024, the Association for Digital Science Promotion and Research (ADSPR) and the European Data Science Alliance (EDSA) formally signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Geneva, marking another important expansion of ADSPR's international cooperation network.

According to the agreement, the two parties will carry out in-depth cooperation across four dimensions. The first is academic resource sharing: both sides will mutually recognize achievement review results. Academic achievements that pass review by the ADSPR Digital Science Research Institute may enter EDSA's European academic achievement database, and vice versa. This mutual recognition mechanism will significantly enhance the international visibility and influence of the academic achievements of members of both organizations.

The second dimension is joint research projects. Each year, the two parties will jointly launch two to three cross-regional research projects, focusing on topics such as comparative studies of data governance regulations, cross-border data circulation mechanisms, and the standardization of privacy-preserving technologies. These projects naturally require cross-cultural and cross-jurisdictional research, and the complementary strengths of both sides will provide unique perspectives and resources for the studies.

The third dimension is talent exchange. Researchers funded by the ADSPR Youth Funding Program will have opportunities to conduct short-term academic visits at EDSA member institutions, while young scholars from EDSA may also apply to participate in ADSPR academic activities and mentor-matching programs.

The fourth dimension is joint publication. The two parties plan to jointly publish research reports in the fields of data governance and privacy computing, providing academic references for global data science policymaking.

Lin Jiacheng, Vice President of the Association, attended the signing ceremony as ADSPR's representative. He noted that EDSA has accumulated extensive compliance research experience under the framework of Europe's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), while ADSPR has significant advantages in technological innovation and industry-university-research collaboration in the Asia-Pacific region. The cooperation between the two sides will open an academic expressway connecting Asia and Europe for digital science researchers.

This is another important milestone in ADSPR's international cooperation after establishing a partnership with the Data Science Center of the National University of Singapore in 2020. The Association will continue to expand its global academic cooperation network and provide members with more diverse and higher-quality international academic resources.
